When coming up with a concept for a film or writing a screenplay, the advice always is "write what you know." Specifically you should pull from your own life and look at your friends and family and see what their stories are.
This is exactly what Jared Callahan did with his documentary Janey Makes a Play. He came on to talk about his film that showed at the Atlanta Film Festival and is set to take other festivals by storm. We also talked about the difficulties of finding distribution for an indie film (particularly a doc), struggles of getting your career off the ground, and his many upcoming projects.
